- Google Adsense
An easy way to monetize your blog is to apply for a Google adsense account and place ads either as banners or text links. Google provides the ads and you are paid a percentage each time visitors click on the ads. These are pay per click ads.
If you want your blog monetized with pay per click ads, you got to make sure your blog meets Google's requirements. Also, to avoid being penalized you mustn't click on your own ads nor should you contact all your friends to suggest they do so. Google will notice.
There are several types of ads to choose from including text ads, image ads, video ads, and search ads. Text ads are preferable because you can make them blend nicely into your site.
- Sell Your Own Product.
If you produce high quality products, you can sell directly to customers through your blog. E-books are easy to sell this way because you don't need to ship them.
- Affiliate Marketing.
With affiliate marketing you get a percentage of the sale of products you promote on your blog. How much you make depends on a number of factors:
- The number of visitors who go on to buy the products.
- The price of the product.
- The amount the company is giving away as commissions to affiliates.
Digital goods generally carry higher commissions ( 50% - 75% ) while physical goods and big sales may be as low as 5 %. If you want to monetize your blog promoting affiliate programs, you need to sign up at affiliate networks and choose products that complement the theme of your blog.
- Selling Advertising Space.
If you blog gets a high volume of traffic and has a high Alexa ranking, you can sell your own ads space to merchants. Monetizing your blog this way means the profit is all yours. Create a sell ads page on your blog and link it to your email and pay pal account. This enables advertisers to buy ad space on your blog.
